Why roofs should never be pressure washed
Asphalt shingles are covered in protective granules. A pressure washer strips those granules off, which shortens the roof's life and can void a manufacturer's warranty. The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association recommends cleaning shingles with a low-pressure cleaning solution rather than high-pressure water, and that's exactly how we clean roofs.

How roof soft washing works
We apply a cleaning solution designed for roofing at very low pressure, so nothing is blasting across the shingles. The solution kills the algae and loosens moss and lichen. Algae streaks usually disappear the same day. Thick moss and lichen can take a few rain showers to fully release after they've been killed, and it's normal to see the roof keep improving for a couple of weeks.
We pre-wet and rinse your landscaping, protect the areas below the roof, and rinse gutters, siding and walkways when we're done.
Metal roofs, too
Metal roofs collect algae, oxidation chalk and dirt, especially on barns, shops and mountain homes. We soft wash metal roofs with low pressure to brighten the finish without damaging the paint.
Is roof cleaning worth it?
A clean roof makes the whole house look newer, and removing growth helps the roof shed water and dry out the way it was designed to. If you're thinking about selling, a roof soft wash is one of the most visible improvements you can make for the money. And if you've been told the roof needs replacing because of the streaks, get it cleaned first. Many "worn-out" roofs are just dirty.

How long does a roof cleaning last?
Because soft washing kills the algae instead of blasting the surface layer off, results typically last several years. Shaded, damp roofs will see growth return sooner than roofs in full sun.
Do you walk on the roof?
Only when it's safe and necessary. Much of the work can be done from ladders and the ground, which is easier on the shingles.
Will it hurt my gutters or plants?
We pre-wet and rinse plants before, during and after, and rinse the gutters and siding at the end of every roof job.
